FREE Baby’s First Crochet Mary Jane Booties Pattern

Round 1 – Chain 1

  1. 1 sc in blo of each stitch beginning with join sp. Join (42)

Round 2 – Chain 1

  1. In both loops, sc in ea stitch around beginning with join sp. Join (42)

Round 3 – Chain 1

  1. sc in next 13 stitches starting with join space
  2. *skip 1 st, ext sc in next* Repeat ** for a total of 7 ext sc
  3. skip 1 stitch, sc in last 14 stitches. Join

Round 4 – Chain 1

  1. sc into 13 stitches beginning with join space
  2. *skip 1, hdc in nxt*, Repeat ** 2 more times for a total of 3 hdc
  3. skip next st, sc into next 14 stitches. Join

Round 5 – Chain 1

  1. slip into nxt 10 stitches beginning with join space
  2. chain 14-16, slip into 6th chain from hook & ea chain after until you reach bottom of chain.
  3. after working your last chain, slip back into the stitch at shoe, and continue to slip stitch into remaining stitches in round. Join

-Finish Off-

Upper Shoe Pattern Begins: (Left Shoe)

Left shoe will be worked exactly the same as the Right Shoe until Round 5.

Round 5 – Chain 1

  1. slip into nxt 21 stitches beginning with join space
  2. chain 14-16, slip into 6th chain from hook & ea chain after until you reach bottom of chain.
  3. after working your last chain, slip back into the stitch at shoe, and continue to slip stitch into remaining stitches in round. Join

-Finish Off-

Attach buttons and any other embellishment you wish.

PATTERN: Size 12-18 months

Measures approximately 5 ½ ” – G or H hook for this size depending on your tension. (I used G, worked loosely for 5 ½”)

Round 1 of sole – Chain 13

  1. 2 sc into 2nd chain from the hook.
  2. sc into next 8
  3. hdc into next 2
  4. dc 7 times into last chain

-You will now be working on opposite side of your foundation chain-

  1. hdc in next 2 chains
  2. sc in next 8 chains
  3. 2 sc into last chain, slip to 1st sc made (join).

Round 2 of sole – Chain 2 (place marker)

  1. 2 hdc into same as join space
  2. hdc in next 10 stitches
  3. 2 hdc in next 9 stitches
  4. hdc in next 10
  5. 2 hdc in last stitch, join.

-You will have 42 total stitches after Round 2-

Round 3 of sole – Chain 1

  1. 2 sc in same as join space
  2. sc in next 17 stitches
  3. 2 sc in nxt st, 1 sc in nxt, 2 sc in nxt 2 st, 1 sc in nxt, 2 sc in nxt
  4. sc in next 17 st
  5. 2 sc in last stitch, join

-You will have 48 total stitches after Round 3-

Upper Shoe Pattern Begins: (Right Shoe)

Round 1 – Chain 1

  1. 1 sc in blo of each stitch beginning with join sp. Join (48)

Round 2 – Chain 1

  1. In both loops, sc in ea stitch around beginning with join sp. Join (48)

Round 3 – Chain 1

  1. sc in next 15 stitches starting with join space
  2. *skip 1 st, ext sc in next* Repeat ** for a total of 9 ext sc
  3. skip 1 stitch, sc in last 15 stitches. Join

Round 4 – Chain 1

  1. sc into 15 stitches beginning with join space
  2. *skip 1, hdc in nxt*, Repeat ** 3 more times for a total of 4 hdc
  3. skip next st, sc into next 15 stitches. Join

Round 5 – Chain 1

  1. slip into nxt 10 stitches beginning with join space
  2. chain 14-16, slip into 6th chain from hook & ea chain after until you reach bottom of chain.
  3. after working your last chain, slip back into the stitch at shoe, and continue to slip stitch into remaining stitches in round. Join

-Finish Off-

Upper Shoe Pattern Begins: (Left Shoe)

Left shoe will be worked exactly the same as the Right Shoe until Round 5.

Round 5 – Chain 1

  1. slip into nxt 24 stitches beginning with join space
