Summer Crochet & Knit Additions for Your Next Craft Fair!

Summertime brings a whole new kind of fun, especially when you are talking about yarn!
With craft fairs around every corner, crocheters, knitters & loomers and all other types of yarn crafters have the opportunity to hook and needle their way into a nice chunk of change!

Not only does the opportunity present itself to sell some completed hand crafted items, but it also gives you a chance to become a profitable business owner for years to come! People see your work and they tell others about you. This is a good reason to be fully prepared when you hit the craft fairs, not just with your hand made items, but with business cards in tow!

Many of us who have dabbled in the art of yarn crafting know just how addicting it can be! We wield our hooks or needles sometimes without even realizing; it becomes second nature, and even though you might run out of ideas, which is pretty tough to do with all of the amazing patterns running around the Web, you still somehow end up with your tools in hand, slip stitching, purling, or half double crocheting your next project to completion.

One of the things that I really wanted to participate in this summer, were some of the craft fairs in the city I live in. Because of a few of life’s obstacles, I’ve gotten a bit off track and haven’t been able to spend as much time working yarn in hand. This will just give me more time to build up a nice line of products for the next tour!

So, I’ve seen many people ask in different forums what might sell well in a craft fair, and I know of a few things that were going to be on my plate to try and make a few extra dollars and build up future clientele. I’ve decided to list a few quick and easy makes here for anyone looking for that unique something to work up, that could do well. Clearly, you will have more product line, but as I mentioned, these items could help you fill up & beautify those empty areas of your display table!

The first up, I have to post this design as I’m in love with how quickly it works up! It is awesome for all kinds of summer fun, hiking, camping, bicycling, you name it!

You can hook it to your hip or create a longer strap to sling over or across your shoulder. This pattern is designed by me, I’ve made several of them now and they are definitely in use! The Hip to Be Square Water Bottle Cozy pattern is, of course, free, and a must for keeping that water with you at all times in a convenient location.

Onto the next pattern that works up fairly quick, this adorable Coraline’s Sun Hat by Simply Collectible Crochet, also a free pattern!

This is my work up of the Coraline Sun Hat.

I actually made this up for my new niece and it is super cute! It comes in sizes baby to adult, so make sure you try your hand at this. Everyone should have a sun hat to protect their scalp and this design makes this pattern a must for a fabulous craft table display!

So, I remember last year looking for some cold cup cozies and running into this fun pattern by Drew Emborsky called Brain Freeze.

Aside from this pattern being, of course, free, it will only take the “free”ze away from your hands, which means it has served it’s purpose 😉 . Work this up with little effort in your perfect summery colors, this will be a sure sell! (Free registration to the site is required to download this pdf.)

I personally believe that dishcloths, facecloths and scrubbies can be a hot sale item; I have a few in mind =)
I will have to start with one of my own designs just because I love so much how this pattern turned out.

The Ultimate Scrub-A-Done!

The Ultimate Scrub-A-Done!

Stitch 2 together for the ultimate PERFECT sponge!

Playing around with stitches, I came up with this Scrub-A-Done dish scrubber. Of course this could also make a perfect face cloth or hot pad even. Work it up half and half as I saw one member of YarnWars make hers, cotton on one side, tulle on the other for the EVER so PERFECT scrubber!

Another great dish cloth I’ve found is one created by an unknown designer. This lovely Textured V Stitch dishcloth pattern has made it’s way around the internet and back.

Many great reviews and sadly, I do not have anyone to thank personally for this wonderful design! I love the way it looks when you finish, it is simple, quick to make and would be a hit on display in your booth! Roll it up, add your napkin holders and set the table!

Another great knit dishcloth, one by an unknown designer as well, Grandmother’s Favorite Dishcloth! (My favorite too!)

knitcloth
When I first started knitting, which I learned from my dear sister before crochet, I ran into this fabulous pattern and it remains one of my favorites to this day. The way that it lays before and after you wash it amazes me. I LOVE this dishcloth and I hope you do too! Sadly, the only pictures I have are very used dishcloths, but I decided to include one of my pics anyway, I just wish you could feel it for yourself, even after it’s been washed umpteen times! It’s perfect still!

Next on my list, and I have to apologize, I’ve posted this before but it’s one of my ALL time favorites to make!

YouTubeVideoCover

This Birdie Decoration by Attic 24 is such a simple, versatile pattern, so many things you can decorate these with. You can make it, really in any size you like, just follow the pattern and choose your hook size to make a smaller or larger bird. You can add these birds to other fun projects like wind chimes or a summer wreath, or just as a fun hanging decoration of it’s own as I have in my picture. I loved it so much that I made a video tutorial for it, so I will post both the written and video pattern and I hope you enjoy Lucy’s pattern as much as I have!

The last on my list to wrap up a few fun ideas for your craft fair display are these adorable baby sandals by Ashlee Marie!

I worked up a pair of these for a new little family member a couple of years ago, and ran into them again the other day. I’ve decided to whip up a few more pairs as they are aDORable, quick and not too difficult to make. One of my favorite YouTubers Yolanda Soto Lopez did a video tutorial on these as well, so I will post a link to hers along with the designer for anyone who wants to try their hand at these cutsie baby sandals!
