This is a picture of the hat I modeled my hat after. This particular hat was purchased by my daughter for an Anime convention.

He’s a pretty cute little guy, huh? Well, now he can be yours! FREE. This pattern will take you step by step through the process of making a hat that will be the envy of all pokemon lovers, across the land =)

(PLEASE NOTE: This online pattern has multiple pages. You will have to click on each one below to get to the next portion of the pattern. There have been several people telling me they can’t find all of the pattern, this is why. If you want to download a pdf version, you will need to go to our YarnWars Facebook group, join, and then you will be able to download it from the “Files” tab just below the timeline photo. THANKS!)

Terms of Use

Let me first be clear, the beanie portion of this tutorial is one I have been using since I started making hats. It is a very basic beanie pattern that I have seen many others use in their patterns, so I will not claim the beanie as my own. The rest of this pattern was created by me.

If you enjoyed making this and wish to share it with others, please give me credit for this pattern by pointing people to the official pdf file that can be found by visiting us at YarnWars on Facebook.

Hi!, my name is Colleen – I offer several video tutorials on YouTube under the username Crochaysie, so if there are any areas you may be struggling in throughout this pattern, you can follow the link to the video tutorial within the pattern.

Thank you for your interest in my pattern!

Onward!

Supplies Needed:

  • I hook 5.5mm & I Tunisian hook for the ear flaps
  • Yarn (I used Redheart Super Saver for all but the black yarn. Black yarn I used Caron) Colors: Yellow, Red White & black
  • Blunt needle
  • Scissors
  • Stitch Marker
  • Tape measurer

Stitches & Techniques used w/ Video Tutorials:

This hat pattern was made for a 22-23” circumference. There are many hat charts available online, I am including one below that I found that gives you a pretty good idea on sizing, but a simple way to determine your sizing, with your tape measurer, measure around the circumference of the head and divide it by 3.14. (See my measurement pic below). You will create your increases per row, until you reach that determined size. Once you have reached the size you need, you will stop increasing stitches in each row, and then you will start growing your hat toward the ears.

Use the sizing chart below to find your correct measurement & then using the formula above, make those adjustments within the pattern to suit your needs.

I have noted w/in the pattern, areas where you will continue increasing for a larger hat, or taking away rows for smaller hats.

Hopefully this all makes sense =)
